This goes beyond speaking to someone, but instead actually recognizing they are a human being that deserves to be spoken to honestly. Likewise, ââ¬Å"if genuine dialogue is to arise, everyone who takes part in it must bring himself into it. And that also means that he must be willing on each occasion to say what is really in his mind about the subject of conversationâ⬠(Stewart, 75). Fierce Conversations Scott notes that ââ¬Å"a careful conversation is a failed conversation because it merely postpones the conversation that wants and needs to take placeâ⬠(Scott, 20). In order to remain sane, continue upward mobility, and have a genuine relationship conversations must be fierce. ââ¬Å"Fierce conversations are about moral courage, clear requests, and taking actionâ⬠(Scott, 18-19). In order to have a fierce conversation, one must have the courage to take control and clearly say what is on their mind. Furthermore, ââ¬Å"having a fierce conversation means ââ¬Å"to come out from behind ourselves into the conversation and make it realâ⬠(Scott, 7). Not saying what is on oneââ¬â¢s mind and hoping a situation either goes away or fixes itself is a very ineffective way to live oneââ¬â¢s life. Even if someone may not want to discuss a particular topic it is necessary in order to confront problems and live the best life possible. A fierce conversation is turning towards the other and making a conversation real. In order for one to have a fierce conversation that reflects these qualities, they must make use of personal making present, meaning they must be ready to legitimately stand as a man, enter dialogue, and be ready to deal as a partner (Stewart, 71).
